The latest updates on our schools

We are pleased to provide an update on our plans to re-open our schools with enhanced safety measures. These dates are dependent on local government regulations and are subject to change at any time.

United Kingdom – Our Bournemouth, Cambridge, London, Liverpool, Manchester, Oxford and Edinburgh schools are open and teaching face-to-face. Our other schools plan to re-open on the following dates:
14 June – Bath, Torquay

Ireland – Our Dublin  school is temporarily closed, with all classes available online.

United States – Boston Harvard Square, Chicago, New York, and Seattle  are fully open. We have temporarily moved teaching online until 1 June at our San Francisco Berkeley, Los Angeles  and Santa Barbara  schools due to local government advice.

Canada – Both our Toronto and Vancouver schools have been approved to the DLI list by the IRCC for their Covid-19 safety and readiness plans. Students with study permits may study at either school.
Vancouver is open for face-to-face tuition; Toronto is currently teaching classes online, with a plan to resume face-to-face classes on 3 May 2021.

Australia – Our Australian schools are currently open and teaching face-to-face and online. Due to government announcements relating to Australia’s border closure until the end of 2021, these schools are not currently taking stand-alone English enrolments from overseas, but continue to take packaged English enrollments and imminent online enrollments.

New Zealand – Our school in Auckland is open and is teaching face-to-face.

France  Alpadia Lyon  is open and is teaching face-to-face.

Germany – At Alpadia Berlin and Freiburg all classes are online. We expect schools to reopen on 31 May 2021, unless restrictions are extended.

Switzerland – Alpadia Montreux and Zurich is open and teaching face-to-face.

New 'Best of both' offering

We have received a very positive reaction to the launch of our online program, K+ Live. What students all seem to agree on, however, is that there is no substitute for travelling abroad and learning through an immersive experience. We at Kaplan couldn’t agree more!

As a result, we have been working on a new offering that blends our successful online program in the short term with our traditional face-to-face classes once our schools are open. The idea is that you can start your studies immediately online using K+ Live, and then travel to one of our schools later in the year, at a special, reduced tuition rate.

Best of Both offers Kaplan General, Semi-Intensive and Intensive courses, as well as selected business and exam preparation programs, when booking at least two weeks of our K+ Live online classes before October 31, starting before the end of 2020. Students can then, as circumstances allow, travel to start in our schools up to March 31, 2021.

The same tuition fee will apply to both the online and in-school aspect of the course for the full duration of the booking. These rates will apply to every school in each destination country, regardless of their current pricing, in some cases there are savings of up to 50%. There is no additional summer supplement or enrolment fee. And we will back this offer with our Book with Confidence Guarantee  – if you are unable to travel because of COVID-19 related restrictions, you can postpone the course or take it online instead.

Are Kaplan schools open?

Are Kaplan schools open?

The health, safety and well-being of students, staff, and host families is of paramount importance to all of us at Kaplan International Languages. Due to the spread of Coronavirus, we have temporarily suspended face-to-face teaching in some of our schools (check at top of page for countries) and have implemented online learning instead.

Online classes will be as similar as possible to actually being in the school. In most cases they will be with the same teachers, for the same number of hours at the normal schedule. The lessons can be accessed from laptops, computers and phones. Students can participate fully, both by speaking and in writing. There are extensive group activities and presentations, quizzes and polls. Teachers will measure progress through continuous assessment and by regular tests using our proprietary adaptive test, KITE. Students also have full access to K+ Online and K+ Online Extra tools as normal.
